Week 41 - VR Lab hours

 Idea

We discussed many ideas, we wanted a shooting game but decided on bowling, as it will be a better quality product than a shooting game.

There were no bowling game assets on Unity Store that were acceptable to us so we went to CGtrader and downloaded one.


Implementation

We saw a lot of tutorials on building a bowling game in VR. But we liked the tools the VRTK offers. And based out game on this tutorial.


Game

- The lane is 15 m

- The lane was rotated to 1 degree towards the Pins so it will give velocity to the ball and make the game friendlier to new players

- Usually, in bowling, the ball falls on the sides, but in our case, we decided to place borders to make it easier for the players who are not accustomed to the VR (including us :))

- When a pin falls it will disappear in 1.5 seconds

- The ball will automatically reset if it passes the pins

- There is a button to reset the pins

- There is a button to reset the ball

- You can teleport everywhere


Features not implemented

These are features that we wanted but did not manage to finish:

- Score

- Screen to show a close-up of the pins

- There is no rule that you have only two chances to get down all the pins


Bugs

Currently, if you put the ball under yourself you can go up as the game considers the ball to be the ground floor. You can continuously go up
